Books for Secrets

I have so many unfinished items on my desk these days,
but I finally finished a couple of small pocket books.

I decorated the covers with bits of a copy of a drawing I did,
and added some texture and colour.

The pages inside the book are actually pockets
that are decorated in a similar manner to the covers.

This book is decorated with paint, bits of paper, and stamps rather than a drawing.

The pockets are just waiting to hold secrets of some kind
be that poems, drawings, quotes, love notes or secret wishes.

For the Love of Play

A collage I created recently
with some words I wrote about it.

When I was a child I learned to play.
I learned it well.
It was at times all encompassing.
As we grow older we sometimes forget how to play.
But play brings joy, and so I let my inner child out.
I jump, I skip, I twirl and spin,
I tear up paper, scribble, and splash some paint around.
Joyful, playful times.
Seeing children at play, I smile,
wishing them lifetimes worth of play filled days.
I close my eyes to see a world
filled with the love of play.

Little Bits of Creative Play

I like using my own carved stamps in things I create.
My designs are pretty rustic and simple,
but they are meant to be a part of my creations
not the whole.

When I only have little bits of creative times
I will make a small stamp carved onto an eraser.

My past week has only had small bits of creative time
And so I carved a few stamps.

This ladder stamp has a wiggly ladder on the bigger side,
and a small ladder carved into the eraser edge.

This flower stamp can be stamped once or twice to make a larger flower.
The first stamps I did (left hand image) didn't have enough white in the petals
so I carved away a bit more.

I then tried them on some tissue paper I had coloured.
Bits of these will eventually show up in some other creations.

And then I played a bit altering them on the computer.

All projects that can be done in the little bits of creative play time.

Onion Skin Easter Eggs

My favourite way to decorate Easter eggs
is to wrap them in onion skins before cooking them.

The designs and colours that are created are always beautiful

Each one so unique
and containing some of my favourite colours.

A few years back I wrote a post on how to make them.

Happy Easter - Happy Spring!

in the early morning forest

The snow is starting to melt. .  .
the daylight stays well into the evening . . . .
and there is often bits of pink in the early morning sky.

All these things inspired this
paper and stitch collage.

The warmth of spring is
filling my days so beautifully.
